NPPE practice questions

NPPE practice questions

Practice questions are where NPPE preparation turns into NPPE marks. The PassNPPE bank has over 1,000 questions written to the official blueprint, each with an explanation of why the right answer wins and why the other three lose.

Every question follows the official NPPE format: four options, one correct answer, and a stem short enough to read quickly. Practice mode is untimed and gives feedback after each answer, so you learn as you go. Your results feed a progress view by section and sub-topic, which shows what to review next.

How the questions are written and checked

Each question is mapped to one of the 40 sub-topics in the official blueprint and written from the three core textbooks on the official reading list. Before a question goes into the bank, a second reviewer has to find the passage that supports the correct answer, and questions with more than one defensible answer are rewritten or dropped.

The explanations are the point. A good NPPE explanation does not just name the right answer; it shows why the tempting wrong answer is wrong, usually because it skips a step, puts the employer ahead of the public, or goes to the regulator too early. That reasoning is what transfers to questions you have never seen.

The kinds of questions you will see

Scenario questions

Most of the exam. A short workplace situation, then four possible actions. The skill is ranking them: protect the public, act within your competence, disclose conflicts, and escalate in the right order.

Definition questions

Short and direct: what a term means, which law applies, what a document or clause does. These are fast marks if you have learned the vocabulary, especially in the law section.

Negative questions

Which option is not correct, or which statement is false. Slow down on these; the most common mistake is answering the opposite question.

How to practise effectively

  • Start with a section you have just read in the study guide, so practice reinforces the reading.
  • Read every explanation, including for questions you got right.
  • Keep a note of each question you missed and the reason: a rule you did not know, a word you misread, or a step you took out of order.
  • Mix sections once each one feels solid, because the real exam does not group questions by topic.
  • Finish with a timed run. See the practice exam page.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I find free NPPE practice questions?
The 12 sample questions on this site need no account. A free account adds 60 more practice questions spread across all six sections, with full explanations.See sample questions and create a free account.
How many practice questions should I do before the NPPE?
Enough to cover every blueprint section several times and to get comfortable with scenario wording. Quality matters more than volume: a few hundred questions with explanations you actually read beat a thousand you only check against a key.
Are NPPE practice questions similar to the real exam?
Good ones match the real exam in structure: four options, one correct answer, mostly short workplace scenarios, and the same six-section blueprint. No third party has the real questions, and anyone claiming to is selling something the exam security rules prohibit.
What kinds of questions are on the NPPE?
Mostly scenario questions that ask for the most appropriate action, plus definition questions that test legal and professional terms. Some are phrased in the negative, asking which option is not correct.
