What candidates actually report, by regulator

APEGA

Candidates most often report seeing a status change in their online portal, and describe it as the fastest of the regulators discussed on Reddit.

PEO

Candidates report results arriving by email only (no portal status), and describe PEO as the slowest and least communicative. In at least one sitting, results reportedly landed right before a registration deadline.

Other regulators

Candidates from other provinces/territories describe similar multi-week waits with little proactive communication; exact timing was not consistently reported for every regulator.

The Mastery Report and retaking the NPPE

If you don't pass, you receive an Individual Mastery Report showing performance in each of the six blueprint sections as Mastered, Borderline Mastered, or Not Mastered, so you know exactly where to focus before your next sitting. A retake means rewriting the entire exam, covering every section again. up to four attempts to pass, in most jurisdictions. The NPPE Candidate Guide's most recent version (V17, Dec 2025) points candidates to their own regulator for the exact attempt limit; earlier guide versions stated PEO specifically allowed three attempts, but that line was removed from the current guide.
